Former Hillsong pastor Carl Lentz began a treatment program to treat mental health problems after his release from the prominent Protestant church.
Lentz will “seek treatment in an outpatient facility that specializes in depression, anxiety and pastoral burnout,” a source close to him told People Tuesday.
Known for his friendships with celebrities like Justin Bieber, 42-year-old Lentz was fired from church in November for a relationship outside of his marriage.

Last year Lentz baptized Bieber and even directed his wedding.

Last week, DailyMail.com exclusively reported on audio recordings from Houston addressing church leaders and top donors claiming Lentz had “more than one affair” that led to his release.
He called it “significant” and added that “bad moral behavior has historically declined”, although he did not refer to these recent matters, which were apparently consensual.
The affairs were allegedly discovered when a church official found compromising text messages on Lentz’s computer.
Shortly after the scandal broke out, New York-based designer Ranin Karim claimed she had a month-long affair with him.
According to her, Lentz only ever gave his first name and claimed to be a sports agent.

A group leader from the Church’s campus in Boston shared claims by a volunteer that Lentz had acted “inappropriately”, was “extremely flirtatious”, and was “extremely uncomfortable” with her.
In response, a senior member of the New York Church wrote a stern email claiming the allegations were all fabricated.
The chairman alleged the New York office had conducted an “internal review” and found no evidence to support the woman’s allegations against Lentz.
In the email, the group leader was accused of having passed on allegations of “causing more harm than good” and promoting a “false story”.
Since Lentz’s release, Hillsong has announced that there will be an “in-depth review and investigation of all concerns and other cultural issues.”
